The Santa Clause (2022)
The Santa Clause (2002) and (1994)
Scott Calvin, a 37-year-old marketing director played by Tim Allen, is preparing to spend Christmas Eve with his son Charlie. However, he struggles with the idea of Santa Claus, especially since his ex-wife Laura and her new husband Neil have told Charlie that Santa isn’t real. The story takes a turn when Scott accidentally causes Santa to fall from his roof, leading to Santa’s disappearance and leaving behind his suit and a card instructing the finder to put on the suit if anything happens to him.
After donning the suit, Scott is magically transported to the North Pole, where he learns from the head elf, Bernard, that he is now legally bound by “the Santa Clause” to take on Santa’s duties. Over the next year, Scott undergoes a remarkable transformation: he gains weight, grows a white beard that won’t shave off, and finds himself increasingly embodying the spirit of Santa Claus. This change raises concerns for Laura and Neil, who believe Scott is endangering Charlie by fostering unrealistic beliefs.
As Christmas approaches again, Scott attempts to reconnect with Charlie while dealing with court hearings regarding his visitation rights. With the help of a magical snow globe gifted by Bernard, Scott proves his identity as Santa during a climactic scene where he delivers presents on Christmas Eve.
Ultimately, Laura and Neil come to accept Scott’s role as Santa, allowing him to maintain a relationship with Charlie while embracing the magic of Christmas together. The film concludes with Scott flying off in his sleigh with Charlie, reinforcing the bond between father and son amidst the enchanting chaos of holiday spirit.
