Ghost Rider (2007)
Ghost Rider (2007) is a supernatural action film directed by Mark Steven Johnson, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film stars Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman who sells his soul to the devil and becomes the Ghost Rider, a flaming-skulled, motorcycle-riding vigilante who hunts down evil forces. While Ghost Rider embraces a dark, comic book aesthetic, it combines action with supernatural elements, delivering a unique, albeit polarizing, take on the antihero genre.
Plot
The story begins with a young Johnny Blaze (Matt Long) making a deal with Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda) to save his father from terminal cancer. However, the devil twists the deal, and Blazeโs father dies in a motorcycle accident, leaving Johnny devastated and bound to a future as Mephistophelesโ servant. Years later, Johnny (now played by Nicolas Cage) has become a famous daredevil known for his death-defying stunts. However, his life takes a dark turn when Mephistopheles returns to claim his soul, transforming him into the Ghost Rider.
As the Ghost Rider, Johnny is cursed to hunt down evil souls, his body transforming into a flaming skeleton with a fiery motorcycle every night. Mephistopheles tasks Johnny with tracking down Blackheart (Wes Bentley), a demonic entity and the devilโs rebellious son who seeks to unleash Hell on Earth. As Johnny learns to control his powers and navigate his double life, he reconnects with his old love, Roxanne (Eva Mendes), while struggling to break free from the curse and reclaim his soul.
